Trainings/Certifications: I completed a 200-hr hot vinyasa teacher training through Sumit’s Yoga in Memphis.

My other job is: I’m currently a medical student at NYIT.

The song I put on repeat:  I can’t pick one! If I like any song it’ll be on repeat for a few weeks, and it drives everyone around me crazy.

When I wake up I: Downdog!! It’s the best way for me to stretch out and work out stiffness before starting my day.

My favorite pose is:  Extended side angle pose has always been one of my favorites. I love playing around with inversions, but extended side-angle feels the best. For me it can be really restorative when I focus on the hip opening, or energizing when I focus more on the side-lengthening.

My growing edge pose is:  I’m learning to make peace with chair pose. I have long femurs and it’s tough for me to feel comfortable in that pose. I am starting to see how wonderfully strengthening it is for the entire leg, so I’m trying to incorporate it into my home practice more. With utkatasana being so integral to Sun salutations (my favorite), I’m determined to get over this hump.

When I teach I feel:  Helpful! I love to encourage creativity and give students new ideas or things to think about during practice.

When I practice I feel:  Strong. Strength has always been more of a challenge for me than flexibility, and I really appreciate a challenge when I’m taking a class.

I love:  Learning anatomy through yoga. It’s awesome to incorporate what I learn in medical school into my yoga practice. Yoga teaches me so much about anatomy through movement, and practicing allows me to ruminate on how the human body works. I’m so excited to share this with others.
